In a significant step toward fostering economic and industrial growth in the Country, the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), through its Ogun State Office, on 9th April 2025, has engaged Ogun State Government ahead of the upcoming Africa Raw Materials Summit.
The Ogun State Coordinator, Mr Rabiu B. O. who led the delegation to the Chief of Staff, Ogun State, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo to discuss the summit’s potential benefits for the state, especially presenting a unique opportunity that will attract investments in raw materials development, drive industrial growth and job creation, and showcase the state’s resource potentials to key stakeholders.
Rabiu said the Africa Raw Materials Summit, which is scheduled for May 20–22, 2025, at the Abuja Continental Hotel, will bring together researchers, industrialists, policymakers, investors, and government agencies under the theme “Shaping the Future of Africa’s Resource Landscape.”
The summit aims to promote sustainable development and utilization of Africa’s raw materials and foster economic growth and industrialization across the continent, Rabiu added.
Calling for active participation, the RMRDC State Coordinator sought for strategic partnership with the Ogun State Government to actively participate in the summit to maximize its benefits, saying Establishing partnerships with industry leaders and investors could further position the state as a hub for raw materials development in Nigeria and beyond.
The RMRDC’s engagement underscores the council’s commitment to collaborating with the Ogun state government to secure strategic partnerships.
Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration has been urged to seize this opportunity to strengthen Ogun State’s economic prospects while contributing to Africa’s broader resource development goals.
Speaking during the meeting, the Chief of Staff Ogun State, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo appreciated the Council for putting up this initiative to organize Africa Raw Materials Summit, emphasizing that Ogun State being industrial hub of the Country has built Gateway agro cargo airport which is to serves as hub for agro-processing companies, enabling farmers to access better markets thereby increasing the Country’s economic prospects which will also boost economy activities by providing employment opportunities for at least 25,000 through the agricultural value chain.
The chief of staff however, assured the state coordinator that the Ogun State Government would be actively participating in the Council’s upcoming raw materials summit.
