The Raw Material Research and Development Council (RMRDC) was honoured with a prestigious Merit Award for Best Exhibition of Raw Materials at the closing ceremony of the 46th Kaduna International Trade Fair.

The prestigious accolade was received by the Kaduna State Coordinator RMRDC Mr. Shehu Jibrin Mutallab, on behalf of the Director-General/CEO of the Council, Prof. Nnanyelugo Martin Ike-Muonso. The award which was presented by the Member House of Representative, representing Lere local government and the Chairman House Committee on Commerce, Hon. Ahmed Munir recognizes RMRDC’s outstanding contribution to promoting Nigeria’s indigenous raw materials and industrial innovation.
The award underscores RMRDC’s impactful showcase at the trade fair, which highlighted the Council’s strides in advancing local raw material utilization, sustainable resource management, and value chain development. The exhibition featured ground breaking research outputs, prototypes, and strategies aimed at reducing import reliance, empowering industries, and driving economic diversification.
The Kaduna State Coordinator Mr. Mutallab lauded the recognition, stating” This award reaffirms our commitment to unlocking the potential of Nigeria’s raw materials for industrial growth. Through strategic partnerships and innovation, we are poised to strengthen local content adoption, create jobs, and position Nigeria as a hub for resource-based industrialization”. He extended gratitude to the Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (KADCCIMA) for fostering a platform that bridges industry stakeholders and innovators.
Mr. Mutallab further emphasized the Council’s alignment with national development goals.
“Our exhibition demonstrated practical pathways for transforming raw materials into high-value products. This award inspires us to intensify efforts in supporting SMEs, researchers, and industries to harness Nigeria’s vast resource endowment”, he remarked.
The 46th Kaduna International Trade Fair, with the “themes Promoting Efficiency in Manufacturing, Agriculture, and Trade Through Digital Transformation,” drew participants from across Nigeria and beyond, spotlighting opportunities for trade, investment, and technological collaboration. RMRDC’s award-winning booth captivated attendees with interactive displays, locally developed products, and data-driven insights on optimizing Nigeria’s raw materials for global competitiveness.
