In a move to strengthen internal communication and documentation standards, the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) Bauchi State Coordinating Office held a seminar aimed at enhancing staff proficiency in technical report writing.
The bi-weekly in-house seminar, conducted at the RMRDC Bauchi office, focused on the fundamentals and best practices of technical report writing. The session was led by Mr. Hassan Ibrahim Ahmad, a Senior Scientific Officer, who meticulously broke down the structure, style, and purpose of professional reports.
The seminar was organized by RMRDC Bauchi State Office, with staff in attendance and Mr. Ahmad serving as the presenter.
The seminar took staff through writing effective, clear, and structured technical documents so as to build staff capacity in writing professional, impactful technical reports that align with RMRDC’s standards and mission.
Through a detailed presentation by Mr. Ahmad, covering report types, the report writing process, formatting, and the qualities of effective reports. Mr. Ahmad opened the seminar by defining what a report is and emphasized the non-fictional, fact-based nature of technical documents. He walked the audience through the various types of reports, including formal, informal, analytical, and proposals. The seminar also detailed each stage of the writing process—from research to final proofreading.

Participants were introduced to a structured report format, including key components such as the title page, executive summary, body, and references. The session wrapped up with a discussion on the “Five Cs” (Clear, Concise, Complete, Consistent, Courteous) and the “ABCs” (Accuracy, Brevity, Completeness) of effective reporting.
Participants left with a stronger grasp of technical documentation, prepared to apply these skills in their roles.
The training reflects the DG RMRDC, Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike- Muonso’s ongoing commitment and dedication to staff development for professional growth.
Through this initiative, RMRDC Bauchi continues to nurture a culture of excellence and professionalism, aligning staff capabilities with the organization’s broader research and development goals.
