In a move to ensure that the Council builds the right partnerships which will ensure it develops the nation’s raw materials with the best expertise, the Director General of the RMRDC, Professor Nnannyelugo Ike-Muonso met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Nigeria, Mr. Bengt Van Loosdrecht recently in Abuja.
The Director General, Professor Nnannyelugo Ike-Muonso informed the Ambassador that he is aware of the immense expertise the Netherlands has in the area of agricultural development. He said that,”The expertise of the Kingdom of the Netherlands has in agriculture is an area the Council will be willing to explore because of the significant role it plays in transforming agricultural produce into industrial raw materials for the nation’s industries.”
Professor N. M. Ike- Muonso also said that closely tied to this is the need for the nation’s researchers and technologists to draw experience from the immense knowledge that the Kingdom of the Netherlands has in the area of agricultural excellence. He informed the Ambassador that the transference of knowledge through shared experiences of a practical nature will result in a situation where Nigerian reseas and technologists can maximise the full potentials of the Research and Development Plant Complex (RDPC) so it achieves the purposes for which it was established.

Responding, the Ambassador, Mr.Bengt Van Loosdrecht assured the Director General of the opportunities inherent in a partnership between the Council and his Embassy.
He acknowledged that, “There’re a lot of positive exchanges which can result from a partnership between the Council and Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands particularly in the areas of food security, water and health.”
The Director General and the Ambassador agrees to continue discussions around these areas because they will serve the purpose of addressing quite decisively the challenges of insecurity in the nation especially in the North East.
The Ambassador expressed his interest to visit the RDPC to see firsthand what kind of facility it is, the type of equipment installed in its buildings and then decide on the nature of the partnership between the Council and his Embassy.
The Director General was accompanied by members of his senior management team and other members of his staff.
