The Anambra State office of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has successfully been trained on the Performance Management System aimed at boosting productivity and improving operational efficiency. The training held in Awka was facilitated by Deputy Director, Engr. Ettu-Obasi.
The session, which was attended by all staff members of the State office, focused on equipping participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively utilize performance management tools and techniques. These methods are designed to monitor, assess, and enhance the overall productivity of employees, ensuring that their individual performances align with the Mission and Mandate of the Council.
During the training, Engr. Ettu-Obasi highlighted the importance of a well-structured performance management system in fostering accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement. He emphasized that the adoption of this system is a critical step towards achieving the Council’s mission of promoting the development and utilization of local raw materials to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imports.
The Deputy Director also took time to engage participants in interactive sessions, where practical applications of “SMART Objectives” setting were discussed. By the end of the training, staff members had gained a deeper understanding of the tools and techniques required to enhance both individual and team productivity.
He observed that the initiative reflects RMRDC’s commitment to fostering an environment of continuous learning and growth.
“We believe that an effective performance management system will not only improve staff performance but also drive the overall success of the Council. SMART in the sense that our objectives must be – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time bound”, he further stated.
The training received positive feedback from attendees, many of whom expressed confidence that the newly acquired knowledge would contribute to greater efficiency and effectiveness in their daily tasks.
The state coordinator, Dr. Uche Lizzy Arinze-Nwosu, in her speech thanked the result-oriented DG/CEO, Prof. Nnanyelugo Martin Ike-Muonso, the facilitator, Engr. Ettu-Obasi and the entire management for this great initiative and promised that RMRDC, Anambra State as a team will always work hard to actualize the Council’s mandate through the use of PMS.
RMRDC remains dedicated to the professional development of staff, recognizing that continuous improvement is essential to delivering high-quality results in line with national development goals
As part of the ongoing efforts to enhance performance, the Council plans to implement follow-up sessions and provide ongoing support to ensure the effective integration of the Performance Management System across all the State offices.
