The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), Nigeria’s foremost association of verified online media professionals, has reaffirmed the pivotal role of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) in driving the nation’s industrialization, economic growth, and sustainable development. This recognition came during the Guild’s 9th Annual Conference, with the theme: Reconciling Campaign Promises with Governance Realities: Challenges and Prospect, which attracted eminent personalities and key stakeholders from across the country.
The high-profile 2-day event which took place at Raddison Blu, Ikeja Lagos, drew dignitaries including the former Military Governor of old Ondo State and former Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George; former Speaker of the House of Representatives, former Governor of Katsina State, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, and current Chairman of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund TETFund; Director, Institute of Continuing Education, University of Lagos, Prof. Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika, and the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ahaji Lanre Issa-Onilu among many others.

A team of senior staff of the Directorate of Corporate Affairs (DCA), RMRDC participated in the event, including the Deputy Director, Pilot Plant and Process Equipment Division, Engr. Ettu Obassi. Engr Obassi made a presentation on the various milestones of RMRDC, and spotlighted the Council’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s raw materials base and industrial competitiveness. He noted that RMRDC continues to champion policies aimed at boosting the economy through 30 percent value addition to locally sourced raw materials, a key strategy toward reducing import dependence and creating sustainable value chains.
Engr. Obassi further emphasized the Council’s dedication to consistent innovation and policy development designed to transform Nigeria’s industrial landscape in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He also showcased the Council’s communication initiative, the Raw Materials 360 Online Newspaper, which serves as a digital platform for promoting RMRDC’s projects, achievements, and impact stories in the industrial sector.

Applauding RMRDC’s participation and support, the President of GOCOP and publisher Realnews Magazine Online, Mrs. Maureen Chigbo commended the Council’s visionary leadership and its ongoing efforts to promote value addition and local content development. She described RMRDC as a strategic partner in achieving Nigeria’s industrial transformation and economic diversification objectives.

The conference once again underscored GOCOP’s role as a credible voice in the nation’s media space, fostering conversations that advance good governance, economic growth, and national development.
