El Gazelle Foods Limited has commended the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) for its policies and initiatives aimed at strengthening local raw material development, value addition and sustainable industrial growth in Nigeria.

The commendation was made during an industrial visit by the Osun State Coordinating Office of RMRDC to the company’s facility in Osogbo on Tuesday, 17th June 2026.

The RMRDC delegation, led by the State Coordinator, Mr. Adeyemi Saheed A., visited the company to assess its raw material sourcing strategies, production processes, technology utilisation and quality control systems, while exploring areas of collaboration and technical support.

Mr. Adeyemi, while addressing the management of El Gazelle Foods Limited, explained that RMRDC remains committed to promoting the development and utilisation of Nigeria’s indigenous raw materials through research, innovation, industry partnerships and technology support.

He stated that the Council serves as a link between raw material producers and industries by encouraging local sourcing, supporting value addition and providing interventions that enhance industrial productivity.

The State Coordinator also introduced the company to RMRDC’s Raw Materials Information System, which provides information on raw materials availability, quality, industrial activities and research findings across the country.

Responding, the Chief Executive Officer of El Gazelle Foods Limited, Mrs. Osato Akintunde, appreciated the RMRDC delegation and described the Council’s policies as important drivers for industrial development and local content advancement.

She disclosed that the company, established in 2020, specialises in the production of beef, goat and chicken Kilishi, with its products distributed through over 300 supermarkets across Nigeria.

Mrs. Akintunde identified the high cost of raw materials as one of the major challenges affecting the company’s operations. She explained that the company established a facility closer to livestock sources in Northern Nigeria to improve access to raw materials and reduce production costs.

She added that the company uses modern processing equipment, including automatic slicing, mixing and drying machines, while maintaining quality standards through laboratory analysis, packaging inspection and storage assessments.

The CEO further revealed that the company is developing its own agricultural production system as part of its backward integration strategy to ensure sustainable raw material supply.

Speaking further, Mr. Adeyemi highlighted RMRDC’s contribution towards industrial growth through the promotion of indigenous technologies and locally developed processing equipment.

He noted that the Council has supported the development of local machinery for processing industries as part of efforts to reduce dependence on imported equipment and strengthen Nigeria’s manufacturing capacity.

He reiterated RMRDC’s commitment to policies that promote local raw material utilisation, value addition and sustainable industrial development. While also given a strong commendation in the production processes.

Mr. Adeyemi, on behalf of the Director-General/CEO of RMRDC, Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso, assured El Gazelle Foods Limited of the Council’s willingness to collaborate with the company through technical support, research and industry-focused interventions.

The delegation at the end of the visit inspected the company’s production facility, assessing the processing line, quality control procedures and packaging operations.
