In a bid to strategically enhance its visibility and global relevance, the Directorate of Corporate Affairs (DCA) of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has concluded a three-day intensive capacity-building workshop at the Council’s headquarters.
The 3-day master class training, which brought together staff of the Directorate, was facilitated by seasoned experts from the West Africa Broadcasting and Media Academy (WABMA)—an institution renowned for its specialization in media, communications, and strategic engagement.
Focusing on the following themes: public speaking, content creation and production, digital marketing campaign, video and audio editing, start and manage a You-tube channel and so on. The workshop aimed to equip participants with practical tools and contemporary skills to sharpen the professional competencies, equipping them to effectively promote the Council’s objectives and milestones to a wider audience.

The Director General, RMRDC, Prof. Nnanyelugo Martins Ike-Muonso, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of the Directorate as it defines how people see and perceive the Council.
He urged participants to maximise and adequately engage in all sessions to acquire the necessary skills needed to project and reposition the visibility of the Council for impact in raw materials development both locally and internationally.
The Director, DCA, Mr. Chukwuma Ngaha, speaking at the event, applauded the WABMA for an impactful 3-day training session. He said that the Master Class program was indeed enlightening, enriching, engaging, and also exciting.
“In these few days, we had the opportunity of being tutored by the best in the field of media practice. These are individuals who have perfected the understanding on their various practice from public speaking, content creation and production, set up a digital radio etc. We have also learned graphic designs so much has been deposited in us”, Mr. Ngaha stated.
He said the Council would further engage the academy for more trainings and build greater competence in some critical media need development areas as earlier promised by the Director General.
Mr. Ngaha reiterated that the training is one of the several planned engagements aimed at boosting the Council’s institutional image and fostering a more robust connection with stakeholders in the public and private sectors.
Participants lauded the initiative, noting that the insights gained will help drive more effective communication and advocacy strategies for the Council within and beyond Nigeria.
The Executive Director of WABMA, Mr. Mike Yawe, thanked the Council for finding the academy worthy of conducting the Masterclass training. He stated that WABMA is committed to offering professional services to the Directorate to ensure the training outcomes are implemented.
He applauded the zeal of all participants and the engaging interactions through the sessions. He said the academy also offers short professional courses that make individuals experts in the media landscape, noting that the academy just got approval to run a monotechnic. This development, he said, is expected to produce more media professionals rather than allowing quacks to take over the media system.
The capacity-building exercise marks a pivotal step in aligning the Council’s communication strategies with global best practices. In an age of information overload and digital transformation, RMRDC recognises the importance of effective communication in showcasing its mandate and ongoing contributions to Nigeria’s industrial and raw materials development.
