The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), through its Ogun State Coordinating Office, conducted an industrial visit to Kehinde Farms, located at Federal Housing Estate, Obada Oko, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on 23rd February 2026. The visit was carried out in line with the Council’s statutory mandate to promote the development, efficient utilization, and value addition of local raw materials across the country.
The team led by the Ogun State Coordinator, Mr. Rabiu B.O were received by Chief Executive Officer of Kehinde Farms, Mrs. Kehinde. Mr. Rabiu stated that the visit was to assess the production of High-Quality Cassava Peel (HQCP), identify operational constraints, and explore areas for institutional collaboration and technical support within the cassava value chain.

The Chief Executive Officer of Kehinde Farms, Mrs. Kehinde, provided a comprehensive overview of the enterprise’s activities. The team observed the various stages of HQCP production, including grating, dewatering, drying, and sieving. Quality control measures such as the removal of lumps to ensure product consistency and market acceptability were also noted.
A tour of the processing facility revealed the presence of key equipment, including a dewatering machine, flash dryer, sealing machine, presser, and sieve. While commending the enterprise for its innovation in converting cassava waste into livestock feed, the team observed that the locally fabricated grating machine currently in use limits production efficiency and output capacity. The acquisition of improved processing equipment, particularly a Hammer Mill, was identified as essential to scaling up operations and enhancing productivity.
Further discussions highlighted opportunities for improved resource utilization through the recovery of starch from liquid by products. This initiative aligns with waste to wealth principles and has the potential to increase revenue streams while minimizing environmental waste.
The Council also acknowledged the CEO’s dedication to the sector, noting her over four years of experience in cassava processing, participation in local and international training programmes, and active role in training other stakeholders within the industry.
In his remarks, the State Coordinator reaffirmed RMRDC, Mr. Rabiu said the Council is commitment to supporting Agro based enterprises through targeted technical interventions, process optimization, stakeholder linkage, and integration into relevant Council programmes. He also informed the management of the forthcoming Investors Forum and encouraged participation as a platform for partnership development and investment mobilization.
The industrial visit underscores RMRDC Ogun State Coordinating Office’s continued efforts to strengthen small and medium scale enterprises, promote value addition in the cassava sector, and contribute meaningfully to sustainable industrial development in Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
