The Academic Staff Union of Research Institute (ASURI) passed vote of confidence on the Director General, Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Prof. Nnanyelugo Martin Ike-Muonso, during a courtesy visit of the Union Executives members to the Council on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
Speaking during the visit, the Secretary General of the Union Professor Theophilus Ndubuaku commended the DG RMRDC for the transformational steps he is taking to ensure a total turn around in the Council.

He said that the Union is indeed impressed at the feedback received from members concerning the present administration and as such, ASURI has unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Prof. Ike-Muonso.
Prof. Ndubuaku, pointed out that the present administration of RMRDC epitomes excellent leadership, fostering peace, harmony and unity in the Council.
He noted that it is obvious that the actions of the present administration are positively impacting on staff welfare and the organisation’s performance, therefore worthy of emulation. He urged other administrators to take a clue from Prof. Ike-Muonso’s style of leadership.
The DG RMRDC who was delighted at their visit, expressed his profound gratitude to ASURI for their kind gesture and hand of fellowship extended to him.
He informed the ASURI Executives that he intends to reposition the Council to have full impact on developing the nation through ensuring that R&D activities carried out on raw materials will result in market-driven and economic turnaround projects for RMRDC and Nigeria.
According to the DG, “The survival of the nation is tied to turning the key of raw materials development to encompass the right policies and market driven activities around the nation’s raw materials.
He said, it is the way to liberate Nigeria. “Making the development of the nation’s raw materials a national agenda is the hope and future of the nation and the Council”.
Prof. Ike- Muonso informed the ASURI Executives that he would require the union’s support to make some organisational restructuring that will transform the Council to an enviable height.
Members of the senior management team present with the DG at the meeting were the Director of the Planning, Statistics and Policy Department (PSPD) Mrs. Rachel Kotso, the Director of the Industrial Promotions and Consultancy Services Department (IPCSD) Mr. Lawal G. Suraj, the Director of the Industrial Chemicals and Pharmaceutical Department (ICPD) Mr. Abubakar Kollere, the Assistant Director representing the Director of the Directorate of Corporate Affairs (DCA) Mrs. Stella Azi, the Technical Advisers to the DG Dr. Chi-Chi Ihionu .
