The Staff of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Niger State Coordinating office, have been urged to acquaint themselves with new ideas on Information and Communication Technology, particularly as the Federal Government is evolving and intends to transition the Civil Service from its current analogue mode to a more globally compliant paperless Civil Service.
This came during the second phase of the Performance Management System Hands-on Training held for Staff of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) in Minna.
Speaking at the event, the resource person, Mr. Usman Abdulrazaq, emphasised that the hands-on training on PMS is essential for improving staff performance and ensuring the achievement of Key Result Areas (KRAs).
He stated that the PMS also promotes the use of SMART objectives in line with the targeted goals of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) and explained the benefits of PMS to include enabling effective and faster communication, providing clear performance expectations, enhancing staff motivation and focus, facilitating objective performance monitoring and evaluation, and promoting accountability.

Mr. Abdulrazaq added that the PMS will help the staff achieve their career development goals, identify their training needs and so on.
“It is important that the staff should remain committed to their duties and to discharge their responsibilities with diligence, aligning their KRAs with RMRDC’s strategic goals,” he explained.
Mallam Usman Abdulrazaq, alongside Mallam Shuaibu Mohammed Isah from the PMS RMRDC Headquarters in Abuja, further conducted the staff on the practical aspects of PMS software features, such as setting tasks, creating objectives, assigning responsibilities, and uploading reports.
Earlier in his remarks, the Niger State Coordinator of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council, Dr. Abdulrasheed Mohammed, described the training as a valuable opportunity to enhance staff capacity, particularly in technical knowledge.
Mr. Abdulrasheed urged participants to take full advantage of the training and apply the knowledge they have gained to promote active roles in their work.
Niger State Coordinator RMRDC, Dr. Abdulrasheed, also appreciated the Director-General of RMRDC, Professor Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso, for providing staff with the opportunity to undergo the training.
