The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) Jigawa State Coordinating Office recently held its training session on Performance Management System (PMS) to build capacity for efficient and sustainable work performance.
The training, facilitated by Mr. Usman Abdulrazaq from the office of the Director General, RMRDC, aimed to equip staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to implement PMS effectively, thereby enhancing organisational efficiency and driving productivity.
The Jigawa State Coordinator, Mr. Abdulhameed Muhammed, speaking at the opening, said the training is imperative as it will help the staff reposition themselves for greater productivity and efficiency, thereby building the Council’s reputation.
He urged staff to be attentive so as to grab the benefits of the training. He also extended appreciation to the RMRDC management for prioritising the training in all state offices as well as the headquarters.
Engaging in the training, Mr. Usman Abdulrazaq explained that the PMS is expected to achieve a more specific goal using the Setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) objectives for individuals and departments to advance the Council’s strategic mandate.
He noted that the PMS also targets continuous monitoring & feedback, leveraging real-time performance tracking tools and biannual evaluations to maintain productivity and address gaps proactively. This, he said, further fosters accountability, improving staff performance, and aligning individual competencies with the Council’s strategic goals. By standardising PMS practices, RMRDC seeks to ensure uniform excellence in service delivery, resource management, and stakeholder engagement nationwide.
Mr. Usman also uses both theoretical and practical base approaches to ensure smooth and equipped learning for the staff, followed by a short test to assess the impact of the training.
Participants applauded the training and pledged tenaciously towards achieving the Council’s mandate.
The training is part of RMRDC’s broader institutional reform to boost operational efficiency and contribute to Nigeria’s industrial growth and economic diversification agenda. By embedding performance measurement into daily operations, RMRDC is positioning itself for greater effectiveness.
