The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) Osun State Office recently conducted a retraining program for its staff on the Performance Management System (PMS). The training, led by Mr. Sulaiman Abu Ciroma, aimed to enhance staff productivity and institutional efficiency.
During the program, Mr. Ciroma thoroughly explained the features of the PMS, including strategic goals, Key Result Areas (KRAs) and objectives. He emphasised the importance of aligning individual targets with the Council’s overall goals, ensuring a unified approach towards achieving its mandate. “To achieve our set targets, it is crucial that each staff member understands their role in contributing to the Council’s strategic objectives,” Mr. Ciroma stated. “By focusing on our Key Result Areas, we can measure our progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure we meet our goals.”
Mr. Ciroma also highlighted the significance of regular feedback and performance evaluation in the PMS. “Continuous feedback and assessment are essential in identifying areas for improvement and providing opportunities for growth and development,” he noted. “This approach will enable us to not only meet but exceed our performance expectations.”
The State Coordinator Mr. Adeyemi Saheed urged staff to take the training seriously, stressing that the success of the state coordinating office relies heavily on the collective effort of every staff member. “The success of this office lies in the hands of the staff, and it involves a joint effort from everyone,” he said. “I expect each of you to not only grasp the concepts being taught but to also apply them in your daily tasks. By doing so, we will be able to achieve our mandate and contribute significantly to the Council’s overall objectives.”
Mr. Adeyemi further emphasised the importance of teamwork and collaboration in achieving the Council’s goals. “We are stronger together, and our individual strengths will collectively drive us towards success. I encourage you all to support one another, share knowledge, and work towards a common purpose.”
Participants expressed their satisfaction with the training initiative, welcoming the new approach to performance management. They acknowledged the Council’s commitment to fostering an environment of continuous learning and growth, which would ultimately enhance their productivity and efficiency.
The RMRDC’s emphasis on PMS training aligns with its broader strategy to standardize performance evaluation metrics across all its offices nationwide. By equipping staff with the necessary skills and knowledge, the Council aims to drive productivity, accountability, and transparency in its operations.
