The Director General, Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Professor Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso, has rolled out capacity building measures to promote staff performance and efficiency across RMRDC Offices. One of these is the Performance Management System (PMS). The Delta State Coordinating Office’s second edition training was held in Asaba on the 21st of July 2025.
The facilitator of the training, Mrs Beatrice Ezeh, stated that the PMS training is aimed at ensuring that all staff embrace better, higher work performance/service delivery and effectively transition from analogue to full automation and ensure productivity, which is the bedrock of civil service. This, she said, will ensure prompt response to tasks, enhance transparency and accountability in every department and project and aid easy appraisals of staff performance and reward accordingly.
She mentioned the numerous benefits of the system and how staff could utilise it to promote the Council’s goals and objectives. Mrs. Beatrice further stated that many objectives can be achieved through various PMS tools, which she highlighted to include strategic goals, Key Results Areas (KRA), personal, organisational, or departmental objectives, and Key Performance Indicators (KPI), among others.
According to her, a well-defined job description and specification will help all staff to achieve set objectives as well as track performance and consistency via emails and other outputs.
The Delta State Coordinator, Mrs Okoh Lesley, commended management for the training and pledged support in ensuring staff make use of the PMS in performing their duties. However, she noted that provision of ICT infrastructure such as WIFI, constant/stable internet connectivity, data, and constant training/retraining of staff is needed for the sustenance of the PMS programme.
Participants applauded the initiative and promised more commitment to their work, and also ensured full support for the DG’s initiatives for a transformed RMRDC.
