The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Kogi State Office, successfully concluded its 2nd Quarter 2025 Staff Training, held recently at the Kogi State Office of the RMRDC Lokoja. The two-day event featured insightful presentations on numerical analysis, agricultural waste utilization, employee guidelines, rice production challenges, report writing, and cashew nut value-chain development.
The training commenced with a presentation by Dr. Peter Adegede, the RMRDC Kogi State Coordinator who emphasized the “Essence of Numerical Analysis in Defining the Scope of RMRDC Programs.” He stressed that all Council projects rely on numerical data, urging staff to strengthen their numeracy skills. Dr. Adegede highlighted practical applications, such as measuring 30% value addition in raw materials and interpreting industry metrics.
Odaudu Arome explored “Harnessing Agricultural Waste: Prospects of Rice Husk Production in Nigeria.” He detailed the uses of rice husk briquettes, production methods, and environmental benefits while outlining market opportunities and challenges.
This was followed by Mr, Idris Alfa with “RMRDC Guidelines for Employees,” clarifying work ethics, code of conduct, and performance management. He reinforced the Council’s zero-tolerance policy for misconduct and emphasized professionalism.
The session concluded with Adejoh Emmanuel discussing “Challenges in Rice Production in Nigeria and the Way Forward.” He identified key obstacles—such as climate change and limited technology—and proposed solutions to boost Nigeria’s rice self-sufficiency.
The second day began with Mr. Yusuf I. Sanda training staff on “How to Write a Good Report.” He outlined report structures, common pitfalls, and proofreading techniques, emphasizing clarity and precision.
Mr. Ibrahim Abdulmalik then presented “Unlocking the Potentials of Cashew Nut Value-Chain in Kogi State.” He highlighted the state’s high-quality cashew production, processing stages, and economic opportunities, urging government intervention to maximize the sector’s potential.
The State Coordinator Dr. Peter Adegede encouraged staff to apply the knowledge gained in their daily work schedules and to be intentional in adding value to the Council.
The training reinforced RMRDC’s commitment to staff development, innovation in raw material utilization, and Nigeria’s industrial growth. Attendees lauded the program for its practicality and relevance to the Council’s mandate.
