The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Taraba State Coordinating Office, actively participated in the 2025 edition of the Taraba State International Investment Summit (TARAVEST 2025), emphasizing raw materials development as a key to developing the nation’s economy, held in Jalingo, Taraba State.
The Council’s participation followed an official invitation extended by the Executive Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas, in recognition of RMRDC’s continued efforts to advance resource-based industrial development within the state.
The summit, themed: Unlocking Taraba’s Investment Potentials: Advancing Agriculture, Energy, Mining and Industrialisation (AEMI) for Sustainable Growth and Development, aimed to position Taraba State as a leading investment destination by leveraging its potential in agriculture, energy, mining, and industrial sectors. Key discussions focused on economic diversification, infrastructure enhancement, and strategies to increase internally generated revenue through impactful public-private partnerships.

The DG RMRDC, Prof. Nnanyelugo Martins Ike-Muonso, who was represented by the Taraba state Coordinator, Mr. Ahmed Musa Waziri, highlighted the Council’s unwavering commitment to promoting industrialization through the sustainable utilization of Taraba State’s vast raw material resources. He emphasized the Council’s critical role in ensuring raw material value addition and development.
He explained that the Council’s mandate is to drive Nigeria’s industrial development through research, innovation, and the promotion of local raw materials, reaffirming its readiness to collaborate with both public and private stakeholders to harness Taraba’s resource potential for sustainable economic growth.
TARAVEST 2025 convened both national and international participants, including prominent business leaders such as Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Mr. Tony Elumelu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and revered traditional rulers, including His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, and the Ooni of Ife. The summit was formally declared open by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The event concluded with renewed commitments from participants to foster inclusive investment opportunities and drive sustainable development across critical sectors of the state’s economy.
