As part of efforts to drive innovation through strategic digital partnerships, the Katsina State Coordinating Office of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) is set to partner with the newly established Katsina State Directorate of Information and Communications Technology (KATDICT).
KATDICT, created under the current administration of Katsina State, is tasked with the dual mandate of managing government information and driving the state’s digital economic agenda. The planned collaboration with RMRDC aims to align with and support the recent launch of the Nigeria Raw Materials Information Management System (NRMIMS) and the Raw Materials E-Registration Portal (RMe-regP). These platforms were designed to enhance the export process, improve transparency, and facilitate the ease of doing business within the raw materials sector.
During a meeting between the two bodies, Director General of KATDICT, Mr. Naufal Ahmad, an accomplished technologist, ecosystem builder, and founder of Kirkira Innovation Hub, commended RMRDC’s innovation in digitizing raw materials registration. He described the Council’s efforts as a step in the right direction for boosting investor confidence and simplifying trade logistics.
Katsina State RMRDC Coordinator, Mr. Abubakar Y., expressed optimism about the prospective partnership, noting its potential to enhance local access to raw material data, streamline stakeholder engagement, and amplify Katsina’s role in Nigeria’s industrialization drive. He also extended appreciation to the KATDICT leadership for their recognition of RMRDC’s contribution to national development.
The partnership is expected to pave the way for joint initiatives that promote data-driven decision-making, support local content development, and strengthen Katsina’s position in Nigeria’s emerging digital economy.
