The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has emphasized the critical importance of value addition to agricultural products during the 10th anniversary celebration of the Ondo State Agricultural Commodities’ Association (OSACA) held on May 6th, 2025.
During her goodwill message, Mrs. Tejumola stressed that farmers and exporters should ensure their products undergo at least 30% value addition before export. “The importance of value addition to products before exporting cannot be overemphasized,” she stated, highlighting how this process enhances the beneficiation of agricultural commodities.
Speaking at the event, Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forest Matters, Mrs. Folukemi Daramola, delivered an impactful goodwill message and advised all participants to join at least one association relevant to their products. She emphasized that membership would ensure they remain relevant and eligible to receive benefits from the government through the Ministry of Agriculture.

In his welcome address, the OSACA Chairman highlighted the association’s unwavering commitment that has contributed significantly to economic progress in the state. He noted that the association has successfully strengthened market access and fostered collaboration among stakeholders over its decade-long existence.
The traditional ruler of Akure emphasized agriculture’s importance over crude oil and explained how food exportation would increase Ondo State’s GDP while fostering international collaborations.
Acknowledging the OSACA’s impact in the state, Deputy Governor Dr. Olaide Adelami appreciated the association for making Ondo State the highest producer of tomatoes in the Southwest region. After hearing challenges faced by the association’s member groups including security concerns, flooding, funding limitations, lack of farm machinery, land issues, and poor road access, he promised to relay these concerns to the Governor. He also encouraged group leaders and the association chairman to arrange a direct meeting with the Governor to expedite their requests.
