The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Plateau State Office, visited Domcit Living Hope Foundation in Bukuru on Monday, April 29, 2025, to explore ways of enhancing local content development and utilization for industrial growth.
The RMRDC delegation, led by the State Coordinator, Mrs. Salifatu R. Guruza, was received by the CEO of Domcit Hon. Princess Domcit (JP), who is also the President of the Foundation and the newly elected Women Leader of the National Association of Small-Scale Industrialists (NASSI), Plateau State Chapter.
During the visit, Mrs. Guruza highlighted RMRDC’s mandate to promoting the use of indigenous raw materials in industries for sustainable economic development.
She emphasized the Council’s commitment to supporting local manufacturers through collaborations with stakeholders such as NASSI and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN). She shared the Foundation’s journey, which began 19 years ago as an NGO empowering vulnerable women and youth through skills training and startup capital. She revealed that the organization has now expanded into a business venture, producing high-quality organic cosmetics such as hair creams, body lotions, coconut oil, and neem seed oil—all sourced from local materials like shea butter, palm kernel, aloe vera, and turmeric.
Despite their successes, the CEO outlined key challenges of the Foundation, including the scarcity of raw materials, inadequate funding, and the need for modern oil extractors to improve production efficiency. She also appealed for government support in training more women and youth, particularly rehabilitated drug addicts, in skills development.
Princess Domcit affirmed that their organic cosmetics meet high-quality standards, though pricing remains slightly higher due to production costs.
She expressed willingness to collaborate with RMRDC in future workshops to train others on value addition using local raw materials.
