The Director General Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Prof. Nnanyelugo M. Ike-Muonso has pledged the Council’s Commitment to entrench global standard practices in chemical technology management, research and development in Nigeria to build a diversified national economy.

Prof. Ike-Muonso made this pledge when the Director Department of Chemical Technology, Federal Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation Dr. M.E.J. Bassey paid him a visit to seek collaboration to promote value chain in chemical technology development, at the RMRDC headquarters Maitama, Abuja, recently.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Bassey stated that there was need to establish an optimally organized and well-structured chemically diversified economy. According to him, promoting optimal research output and total standardization and quality management in the supply chain of chemical technology in Nigeria today is crucial.
He said the Ministry seeks to work with the RMRDC to accomplish this project; an initiative which he further stated will reduce poverty, produce certified skilled and licensed artisanal chemical entrepreneurs, and also make the nation’s chemical sector globally competitive.
The DG RMRDC, Prof. Ike-Muonso, an expert in the economics of raw material and industrial chemical markets with focus on supply chain dynamics, market demand analysis and commercialization techniques, was impressed at the visit and the initiative toward building a viable and sustainable chemical sector.

He briefed the team on the great plans of his administration to refocus the Council as a premier institution; strengthen its productivity and operational efficiency; making RMRDC an institution with international recognition. The DG reaffirmed commitment to the collaboration for a better Nigeria.
