According to organizers, the summit has generated significant interest among ECOWAS countries, with several member states expressing readiness to participate. The prospective participation of ECOWAS countries is seen as a major boost to the summit’s objectives, which include promoting regional cooperation and integration in the development of Africa’s raw materials.
“The African Raw Materials Summit presents a unique opportunity for ECOWAS countries to come together and discuss ways to harness our raw materials for regional development,” said a spokesperson for the ECOWAS Commission. “We are excited about the prospect of our member states participating in the summit and contributing to the discussions.”
The summit is expected to feature high-level discussions, presentations, and exhibitions showcasing the latest developments in raw materials research, development, and utilization. Participants will include policymakers, researchers, industry stakeholders, and civil society organizations from across Africa.
With the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in place, the summit’s focus on regional cooperation and integration in raw materials development is particularly timely. ECOWAS countries’ prospective participation in the summit is seen as a significant step towards harnessing the region’s raw materials for sustainable development.
As the summit approaches, organizers are urging stakeholders from ECOWAS countries and beyond to register and participate in the event. “We invite all stakeholders to join us in Abuja for the African Raw Materials Summit,” said the summit’s organizer. “Together, we can drive the development and utilization of Africa’s raw materials for sustainable growth and prosperity.”.
