The Cross River State Coordinating Office of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) took part in a one day stakeholder engagement programme organised by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) to evaluate the One State One Product (OSOP) Value Chain Export Development Model through the State Committee on Export Promotion (SCEP).
The evaluation exercise, held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Blue Cliff Hotel, Calabar, convened key stakeholders in export development, value chain optimisation, and economic diversification. The event aimed to assess the implementation progress and effectiveness of the OSOP initiative across participating states.
Stakeholders deliberated on the performance review of selected priority products under the OSOP framework, identify value chain gaps, and the need to strengthen institutional coordination through SCEP to enhance export performance. Also explored strategies to improve product quality, ensure standardisation, and boost global market competitiveness.

Representing RMRDC, the Cross River State Coordinator, Mr. Obot Anozeng, alongside Mrs. Gladys Aiyegbeye Ekpo-Ita, urged stakeholders to fully leverage the OSOP initiative by concentrating on a specific product within the state to drive value addition, enhance export capacity, and establish a distinct state identity, thereby boosting overall export potential.
The engagement further served as a platform to advocate for research-driven processing, strengthened industrial linkages, and the commercialisation of local raw materials for export development. Discussions underscored the pivotal role of value chain development in achieving sustainable non-oil export growth, while highlighting persistent challenges such as inadequate processing infrastructure, limited access to finance, and technical capacity gaps among producers.
Mr. Anozeng reiterated the critical importance of inter-agency collaboration in advancing Nigeria’s export development agenda. He assured of RMRDC commitment to partnering with NEPC and other relevant stakeholders to drive the development of raw material-based industries, improve export readiness, and support national economic diversification efforts.
The engagement also reinforced institutional synergy between RMRDC and NEPC, while creating opportunities for future collaboration in capacity building, investment promotion, and the development of export-oriented value chains in Cross River State.
