The Niger State Coordinator of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Dr. Abdulrasheed Mohammed, has restated the RMRDC’s priority to supporting initiatives that promote value addition and strengthen local content development across Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.
The Niger State Coordinator, Dr. Abdulrasheed made this known during the official inauguration of the Association of Solid Minerals Miners and Marketers of Nigeria (ASSMMON), Niger State Chapter executive, held at the Anthena Event Arena, F-Layout, Minna.
Dr. Abdulrasheed emphasized that RMRDC under the able leadership of Prof. Nnayelugo Martin Ike-Muonso remains open to collaborations and partnerships with credible organizations working to advance the nation’s mineral and other agro value chain. He added that enhancing beneficiation, processing, and responsible mining practices remains central to Nigeria’s drive toward industrialization and economic diversification.
The Niger State Coordinator RMRDC, Dr. Abdulrasheed, therefore, said that platforms like ASSMMON provide the needed structure to organize sector players and deepen developmental impact.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the unveiling and swearing-in of the new State Executive Council led by the Niger State Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed SD Manbo.
The oath of allegiance was administered by the National President of the Association of Solid Minerals, Miners and Marketers of Nigeria, Dr. Vincent Mkpu, who charged the executives to uphold the laws guiding the solid minerals sector, be disciplined, and avoid any act capable of undermining public interest.
In his goodwill message, Dr. Mkpu described the inauguration as a significant milestone in repositioning the solid minerals industry in Niger State.
He highlighted the association’s mission to unite miners, processors, marketers, and service providers toward sustainable mineral development in line with global best practices.
Dr. Mkpu commended Alhaji Manbo’s leadership qualities, noting his diligence, resourcefulness, and capacity to mobilize stakeholders across the state.
The event also featured the presentation of awards to distinguished supporters of the association, including the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umaru Faroukh Bahago, represented by the Idon Minna, Prof. Danladi Hakimi, Alhaji Nuhu Aliyu Auna, and the Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Sarkin Daji, as a gesture of appreciation aimed at strengthening partnerships and fostering a peaceful, collaborative environment for sustainable mining activities in Niger State.
