The Director, State Industrial Extension Services Department of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Dr. Edith Obi, has urged staff of the Ogun State Coordinating Office to approach their work with an owner’s mindset in order to promote the ideals of the Council.
Dr. Obi, who represented the Director-General, RMRDC, Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso, made this known during an official working visit to the Ogun State Coordinating Office on 9 February 2026, ahead of the opening of the Gateway International Trade Fair.
The Director was received by the State Coordinator, Mr. Rabiu Basiru Olawale, alongside officers of the Coordinating Office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. An interactive meeting was held during which staff highlighted operational constraints affecting productivity, including irregular power supply, limited ICT facilities, inadequate office furniture, and the need to upgrade the Resource Centre to improve stakeholder engagement. Officers also stressed the importance of strengthening coordination with relevant administrative units to ensure timely completion of documentation for redeployed staff, as well as revitalizing the agro-boosting programme to enhance participation in local raw materials value chains.

Dr. Obi also commended staff for their dedication and constructive feedback. She assured them that management is actively addressing the concerns raised and encouraged optimal utilization of available resources pending further improvements. She further disclosed that plans are being considered to digitally enhance the Resource Centre to increase its relevance to investors and educational institutions.
She emphasized professionalism, accountability, and commitment to duty, urging staff to approach their responsibilities with an owner’s mindset in order to improve service delivery and institutional performance.

The visit reinforced management’s commitment to improving operational efficiency and strengthening stakeholder engagement, while positioning the Ogun State Coordinating Office for effective participation in the ongoing Trade Fair and subsequent programmes of the Council.
