Following the retirement of some Directors of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) who have either attained the mandatory sixty (60) years of age or served thirty-five (35) years in the public service, nine (9) new Directors have been appointed to fill vacant positions created by the retirement. In a letter signed by the RMRDC Director General and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso, the appointment of the Directors followed the approval of the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology (FMIST) after a successful conduct of promotion interviews for qualified candidates which held between November 4th and 5th, 2025 at the Council’s headquarters, Abuja.
Prof Ike-Muonso congratulated the newly appointed Directors and expressed hope that the appointment would serve as a motivation for the newly appointed Directors to justify the confidence reposed in them and demonstrate greater commitments in the discharge of their duties.

It would be recalled that the 2025 promotion interviews for Directors which were conducted using Computer-Based Testing (CBT) have been described by many as the best and most transparent interviews since inception of the Council over three decades ago.
The new Directors whose appointment takes effect from January 1st, 2025 are as follows: Mr Charles Ndu, Mrs Chinyere Nnamdi-Anum, Mrs Tari Giwa Osagie, Dr Mrs Obi Okafor, Mr Oladapo Odumosu, Dr Mrs Fausta Chima-Ogbuefi, Mr Mohammed Njidda, Dr. Mrs Edith Obi, and Dr Mrs Deborah Asabe Ashigye
Until their appointment, the new Directors were either Overseeing Directors or Deputy Directors serving in different Departments of the Council. Their redeployment to head the various Departments is expected to be announced in the coming days.
