The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has taken a bold step to ensure transparency in its operations by conducting a staff audit exercise in Osun State. This move is in line with the federal government’s directive to promote accountability and good governance in the civil service.
The audit exercise, which involved checking staff emolument records, was conducted smoothly, with participating staff receiving clearance letters upon completion. Mrs. A.M. Bakare, a Deputy Director from the RMRDC headquarters in Abuja, served as the resource person for the exercise. In her address to staff members at the Osun State Coordinating Office, Mrs. Bakare noted that:
“The RMRDC, under the leadership of Professor Nnanyelugo Martin Ike-Muonso is taking significant steps to reform and bring about positive changes to the Council. This audit exercise is a testament to our commitment to transparency and accountability. I want to emphasize the importance of punctuality and dedication to work, as all necessary working tools are in place to enable staff to function efficiently.”

Mrs. Bakare encouraged staff members to take the exercise seriously, as it would help to promote transparency and accountability in the council’s operations.
The Osun State Coordinator, Mr. Adeyemi Saheed, expressed gratitude to Mrs. Bakare for her insightful presentation on the benefits of the audit exercise. He also emphasized the need for staff members to demonstrate dedication to their work, noting that this would not only enhance their prospects for promotion but also shape their lives and careers.
The RMRDC’s staff audit exercise is a significant step towards promoting transparency and accountability in the council’s operations. By ensuring that staff emolument records are accurate and up-to-date, the council can better manage its resources and make informed decisions about staff promotions and development.
The exercise demonstrates the RMRDC’s commitment to implementing the federal government’s directives on transparency and accountability in the civil service.
