In a continuous effort to ensure the optimal development of the nation’s aromatic plants sector, The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with NARDUS LIMITED. Nardus, is a leading indigenous company that produces essential oils from the nation’s aromatic plants. The Council and the company had begun preliminary talks about the immense potentials of developing the nation’s aromatic sector particularly the immense vista it will give the nation’s youth to creatively develop an unlimited supply of uniquely Nigerian blends from the abundant essential oils which they can produce from the nation’s aromatic plants. The signing took place at the Council’s headquarters today, Wednesday the 27th of August, 2025.

The Chief Executive Officer of NARDUS Ltd., Mr. Olushola Olunawo expressed delight about the signing of the MOU because he believes that its an immense opportunity to engage the nation’s youth to develop the nation’s aromatic sector and it also gives them the freedom to develop their skills and ability to creatively blend the various essential oils they can extract and produce world class blends which will be highly sought after within the country and globally. He said that, “The youths of the nation will have the liberty to experiment with the various essential oils they extract to produce unique blends that will spur the growth and development of the sector.”
The Director General of the Council, Professor Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso in his remarks said that, “The MOU between the Council and NARDUS Ltd., is a significant step in developing the nation’s aromatic plants sector. It is the beginning of enhancing the global competitiveness of the nation’s aromatic plants sector.”
Speaking at the event, the Director of the Agricultural and Agro-Allied Department (AAD) Dr. Sab Eberiekwe said that, “The MOU signifies the beginning of a well-thought-out structured plan to develop the nation’s aromatic plants sector which has been globally recognised as one of the best in the world.”
The MOU stipulates the terms of engagement for the Council and NARDUS Ltd., as they embark on the journey of developing the full potentials of the nation’s aromatic plants sector for the nation’s industries and for global markets.
