The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has presented a commemorative souvenir to the University of Ilorin in honour of its 50th anniversary. The gesture reflects the Council’s commitment to fostering strategic partnerships with key academic institutions across the country.
The presentation was made by the Kwara State Coordinator of RMRDC, Mrs. Adewumi Lydia, during a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, on Monday, August 18, 2025. Leading a delegation from the Council, she commended the University Administration for its consistent support to the Council, particularly during the recently held summit in Abuja. She also underscored the need for sustained synergy between both institutions to drive national development.
In his remarks, Prof. Egbewole expressed appreciation to RMRDC for the thoughtful gesture, describing it as a timely demonstration of goodwill.
He acknowledged the Council as one of the first organisations to commemorate the University’s Golden Jubilee and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Council.

To deepen collaboration, the Vice Chancellor asked the Deputy Registrar, Mrs. Azeezat Ibrahim, to engage with RMRDC in identifying new areas of cooperation, especially towards enriching the University’s impactful U-Inspire programme. He further identified the Faculty of Engineering, the Centre for Blue and Regenerative Economy, and other specialised centres as platforms to broaden the partnership’s scope.
Mrs. Adewumi also highlighted the Council’s role in the GSE 301 Shea Butter Production training, stressing the potential for even greater collaborations across other programmes. In response, the Vice Chancellor assured the delegation of the University’s readiness to revisit earlier proposals and embrace innovative initiatives that would benefit both organisations.
