As part of ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency, accountability, and service delivery, the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) organized a one-day training on its Performance Management System (PMS) for staff of the Benue State office. The training, held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, in Makurdi, marked the second phase of PMS implementation across the Council.
The initiative is aimed at improving task tracking, performance evaluation, and overall productivity in line with the Council’s strategic objectives.
Facilitated by Mrs. Azuka Uchendu, the session began with a refresher on key concepts introduced during the first phase of training. She drew clear distinctions between strategic goals, Key Result Areas (KRAs), and objectives, outlining the Council’s three core strategic goals and explaining how two additional goals serve as enablers in achieving them.
Mrs. Uchendu demonstrated how tasks should be aligned with KRAs and properly reported upon completion. She emphasized the importance of adapting to the digital PMS platform, noting its alignment with the Federal Government’s directive for all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to fully transition to paperless operations by December 31, 2025.
In her remarks, the Benue State Coordinator, Mrs. Iveren J. Abel-Ugbir, commended the Director General of RMRDC, Professor Nnanyelugo M. Ike-Muonso, for his visionary leadership and commitment to transforming the Council. She urged staff to stay focused and fully engage with the training, stressing that the success of the Council depends on the dedication of every team member.
Staff members welcomed the initiative with enthusiasm, expressing appreciation for the Council’s commitment to continuous professional development. Many noted that the training would significantly enhance their efficiency and support the Council’s broader goal of institutional excellence.
