As part of its ongoing efforts to improve efficiency and drive workplace productivity, the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Ebonyi State Office, has organized a comprehensive training session on the newly introduced Performance Management System (PMS) for its staff.
The training, which aligns with the directives of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, aimed to equip staff with the knowledge and tools necessary to effectively implement and benefit from the new system.
In her opening remarks, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Agbafor Nnenna, expressed appreciation to the Director-General, Prof. Nnanyelugo Martin Ike-Muonso, for his unwavering commitment to repositioning the Council for more effective service delivery.
Highlighting the significance of the PMS, Mrs. Agbafor described it as a critical framework that aligns individual efforts with organizational goals, fosters continuous improvement, and enhances employee development. According to her, “The system provides a structure for setting clear expectations, offering regular feedback, and recognizing achievements, all of which lead to increased productivity, improved employee retention, and a stronger competitive edge.”

She further noted that the PMS helps employees better understand their roles, track their performance, and identify areas for growth. “When employees receive regular feedback, see growth opportunities, and feel valued, they are more likely to be engaged and committed to their work,” she said. She encouraged staff to actively participate in the training and seek clarity whenever needed.
The resource person, Mr. Christopher Ejiogu, also commended the State Coordinator and participating staff for their commitment to professional development. He clarified that the PMS was not designed to punish or victimize staff but to promote a culture of fairness, transparency, and continuous participation in performance evaluation.
Mr. Ejiogu provided a detailed, practical demonstration of the PMS platform, explaining its four user categories: Admin User, General User (Staff), Deputy User, and Super User. He emphasized the system’s focus on strategic goals, Key Result Areas (KRAs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and measurable objectives, all of which are aligned with the Council’s broader mandate.
He also elaborated on the three strategic goals embedded within the PMS, underlining their importance in driving organizational effectiveness and accountability.
At the end of the session, participants expressed appreciation to the Council for the opportunity to enhance their capacity and pledged to apply the knowledge gained to achieve the Council’s mission and objectives.
