The Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology (FMIST) emerged as a standout participant with the award of, Highest in Attendance category by clinching first position at the July edition of the Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA) Keep Fit Aerobic Exercise held in the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, on the 26th July, 2025.

The event, which drew massive participation from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), was graced by the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Comr.Ayodele Olawande, who encouraged civil servants to embrace physical fitness and wellness as part of a balanced work-life lifestyle. In his remarks, he emphasised the importance of regular exercise in enhancing productivity and overall health.

Also present at the event was the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Khalil Suleiman Halilu, who reiterated the government’s continuous support for sports development across various sectors of public service and urged workers to make keeping fit a habit.

Speaking at the event, the National President of FEPSGA, Comr. Amaebi Aloku stated that sports is one of the key pillars of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, “using sports to galvanise the entire civil service, with the support of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. FEPSGA today is one of the major sports festivals in this country, standing shoulder to shoulder with the National sports festival,” he noted.

Other notable representations were Permanent Secretaries of MDAs, such as FMIST, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and Mines and Steel. Also, MDAs turned out in their numbers, fully clad in their distinctive sport outfits, including the Raw Material 360 Online Media, adding colour and excitement to the morning event.

Among the notable teams was the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), led by the Chairperson of the RMRDC Sports Club, Engr. Amina Abdulmalik. She spoke with the media crew on the Director General, RMRDC, Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso’s commitment to the support and development of sporting activities in the Council.  The RMRDC team was well-represented by fully kitted members, showcasing enthusiasm and team spirit throughout the exercise.

The event captured vibrant moments from the morning activities, including workout sessions, team displays, and award presentations. In addition to the Highest in Attendance Award won by FMIST, other award categories included Best Kitted Team, Best Behaved and the first in attendance MDA, recognising excellence, coordination, and dedication among the participating agencies.

The July edition of the FEPSGA Keep Fit Exercise once again drew attention to the commitment of federal workers to health, unity, and camaraderie through sport.
