The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Ogun State Coordinating Office extended the skincare analysis outreach to the officers of Nigerian Correctional Services in Ogun. The exercise was conducted within their office premises at Federal Secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Services, Mr. A.K Abioye warmly received Council’s team led by Mr. Oyajimi Kehinde Monsuru, the Principal Scientific Officer, who also offered technical support to the trained Skin analyst, Mr. Adeniyi Sakiru Olanrewaju
Mr. Oyajimi provided an informative briefing about the Council to correctional officers. He highlighted the Council’s vision, mission, and mandates, emphasizing its role under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Innovation Science and Technology.
Oyajimi further noted that RMRDC has Coordinating Offices across the 36 States of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja with Ogun State headed by Mr. Rabiu Basiru. He added that the decentralization of RMRDC Office was aimed to facilitate grassroots engagement and to ensure the accessibility of Council’s programmes and activities nationwide.
In his remarks, Mr. Adeniyi Sakiru Olanrewaju, who was a Principal Technical Officer and trained Skin analyst, elaborated on the objectives of the Skin exercise.
According to him, the primary goal of the exercise was to analyze Nigerians skin characteristics to develop effective skincare products tailored to address prevalent skin issues among Nigerians.
He added that the parameters to check for, in the exercise are sebum levels, pigmentation, skin elasticity and the skin moisture content. The result will identify common skin conditions and recommend maintenance strategies to prevent skin damage.
Mr. Adeniyi further expressed that the exercise was a collaborative effort between the Tropics Dermal Research and Training Institute (TDRTI), a United States-based organization, and the Federal Ministry of Innovation Science and Technology. The Council was saddled with this responsibility due to its expertise in raw materials development and utilization in Nigeria.
He added, the exercise has been conducted in about 17 out of 20 local governments in Ogun State with similar ongoing at the 36 States of the Federation and FCT, Abuja.
In his response, the Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Services in Ogun State, Mr. Abioye expressed strong support for the initiative, he forthwith directed all the Staff members to participate willingly in the skin test exercise, beginning with himself and cascading down the hierarchy of officers present.
Abioye appreciated the RMRDC Director-General, Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso for the Support and peaceful conducts of the exercise among the Nigerian Correctional Services officers.
Mr. Oyajimi commended the Controller as well eulogized him for his cooperation, professional conduct, and exemplary support throughout the exercise.
