The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), represented by the Enugu and Anambra State Coordinators and some other members of staff recently undertook an industrial visit to Rico Industry, a leading manufacturer of engine oil, plastic products, and other essential commodities.
The Enugu State Coordinator, Engr. Henrietta Ude who lead the delegation in the company of the Anambra State Coordinator, Dr. Mrs. Uche-Arinze Nwosu, stated that the aim of the visit was to observe the activities of Rico Industry, explore potential collaboration opportunities, and also to collect clay samples found on-site for further research analysis.
During discussions, both parties expressed interest in exploring synergies that could enhance industrial development and resource utilization. A key highlight of the visit was the unveiling of a vast untapped deposit of kaolin and ceramic clay, materials that hold immense potential for the ceramics, cosmetics, paper, and pharmaceutical industries, which RMRDC intends to analyse for application in manufacturing.
From the sparkling lines of Tophill Table Water, to the eco-driven plastic recycling factory, and onward to units producing take-away plates, plastic spoons and forks, household buckets and gallons, and even a fully functional engine oil factory, Dr. Chime guided the team through a thriving ecosystem of innovation and enterprise. Each facility echoed his commitment to value addition, sustainability, and job creation.
The visit concluded on agreement towards industrial synergy, where private innovation meets public support to unlock Nigeria’s raw material potential. The future, it seems, is being shaped one partnership at a time.
