The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) is set to collaborate with the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) to boost professionalism and achieve its goals in raw materials development. This partnership was announced following a courtesy visit by the ACCI Director General, Agabaidu C. Jideani, and his executive committee to the RMRDC headquarters in Abuja on June 2, 2025.
During the visit, Mr. Jideani expressed ACCI’s interest in expanding its relationship with RMRDC beyond staff training, aiming to include facilitating trade and market access. He highlighted the opportunities available through ACCI’s Business Entrepreneurship Skills and Technology (BEST) Centre, which offers various training programs beneficial to RMRDC staff. He informed the D.G. that, “The ACCI has four business schools through which it carries out its programmes. These business schools are the Business Entrepreneurship and technical skills centre, where the capacities of the enrolees are enhanced; the technical and vocational training for undergraduates in various vocational skills; the centre for dispute resolution, and the policy and advocacy centre. The ACCI has graduated several professionals who have been constituted into a forum that serves as an advisory group to entrepreneurs who need mentoring along their chosen business paths.’’
Mr. Jideani also noted that the ACCI has successfully graduated numerous professionals who now form an advisory group, mentoring entrepreneurs on their business journeys.
In response, Professor Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso, the Director General of RMRDC, stated that the Council will partner with ACCI to reinvent research methodologies in Nigerian universities and research institutions. The goal is to ensure that research is market-driven and effectively addresses client needs. Professor Ike-Muonso also confirmed that ACCI will collaborate with the RMRDC training school to offer specialized training for Council staff and other interested members of the public. The partnership will also involve data sharing, providing RMRDC with valuable insights into the challenges faced by entrepreneurs in Nigeria
