The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Ebonyi State Coordinating Office, has engaged key stakeholders in preparation for the upcoming Africa Raw Materials Summit, scheduled to take place from May 20 to 22, 2025, at the Abuja Continental Hotel.
During a stakeholder briefing held at the RMRDC Coordinating Office in Abakaliki, representatives from various organizations expressed their readiness to participate in the summit. Attendees included delegates from the National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), Association of Women Entrepreneurs in Ebonyi State (ASSOWE), the Ebonyi Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA), and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
In her opening remarks, the Ebonyi State RMRDC State Coordinator, Nnenna Agbafor emphasized the importance of the summit in enhancing Africa’s global competitiveness in the raw materials sector. She highlighted key focus areas such as optimizing resource extraction and processing, improving regulatory frameworks, and fostering innovation, investment, and sustainable industrial practices.
Responding on behalf of the stakeholders, Mr. Erishi Joe, Chairman of NASME and Head of the Stakeholders’ Forum, pledged to relay the summit details to the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry to ensure broader participation from the state.
The RMRDC Ebonyi Office commended the stakeholders for their active participation and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the sustainable development of the state’s raw materials sector. The Council expressed optimism about Ebonyi’s robust participation in the summit, which aims to shape the future of Africa’s resource-based economy.
