Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has stepped up its anti-corruption advocacy through an awareness training session held at its Anambra State Coordinating Office in Awka.
Organized by the Council’s Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), the enlightenment program focused on the theme “The Importance of Collective Action in the Fight Against Corruption.” The session was facilitated by Engr. Ismail Ibrahim Idris, Deputy Director from the Plant and Process Equipment Division.
Addressing the participants, Engr. Idris underscored corruption as a major barrier to national development, emphasizing that only through collective effort can meaningful progress be made.
“Corruption is not just a government problem; it is a societal issue. Right is right even when nobody is doing it, and wrong is wrong even when everybody is doing it,” he said.
He identified common corrupt practices within the public service, such as the personalization of government property during redeployment or retirement, absenteeism without permission, and habitual lateness. Engr. Idris stressed that fighting such misconduct requires individual responsibility and organizational commitment.
The training engaged participants in interactive discussions and hands-on sessions, focusing on personal accountability, whistleblowing mechanisms, transparency systems, and the cultivation of ethical workplace culture.
In her closing remarks, Dr. Uche L. Arinze-Nwosu, Anambra State Coordinator of the RMRDC, reaffirmed her team’s dedication to upholding integrity within the Council.
“Let this training be a call to action. Together, we can build a system that promotes good governance and deters corruption in all its forms,” she urged.
The initiative is part of RMRDC’s broader alignment with national anti-corruption strategies aimed at fostering a culture of good governance, transparency, and ethical conduct across Nigeria’s public service landscape.
