The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has expressed interest in partnering with Zang Global Technologies, an indigenous technology firm based in Plateau State, to enhance local production of power banks and promote the use of lithium materials in battery manufacturing.
Zang Global Technologies is known for its innovative approach to recycling e-waste, particularly laptop batteries, to produce sustainable products such as power banks. The company aims to expand its scope by venturing fully into the use of locally sourced lithium materials for lithium battery production.
During a recent visit to the company, a Principal Scientific Officer from the Plateau State Office of RMRDC, Mr. Polycarp Datugun, conveyed the Council’s interest in supporting the firm’s efforts. He emphasized that the partnership would help harness the country’s lithium deposits while also boosting the growth of local industries.
In response, the CEO of Zang Global Technologies, Mr. Zang Luka, expressed appreciation for the Council’s interest. He stated that his company is ready to work with RMRDC and other potential investors to scale up production from its current output of 100 power banks per month to 1,000 units. He also reaffirmed his company’s readiness to explore lithium battery production in full capacity.
Mr. Datugun commended the company’s efforts, noting that its innovation and sustainable practices are in line with national objectives for raw material development and industrial self-reliance. He further assured that the Plateau State Office would report the company’s initiatives to the RMRDC headquarters and encourage other stakeholders and entrepreneurs to explore partnerships with Zang Global Technologies.
This collaboration is expected to contribute significantly to the promotion of local content, creation of jobs, and advancement of indigenous technological capabilities in Nigeria’s energy sector.
