The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has announced a strategic collaboration with the Adamawa State Government to explore and develop the state’s abundant solid mineral resources. This initiative aims to stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities, and enhance revenue generation within the state.
A delegation from RMRDC, led by the Adamawa State Coordinator, Mr. Honda T. Honda, participated in the Northeast 2025 African Mineral Summit and Exhibition held on February, 2025, at the Lelewal Motels Conference Hall in Jimeta, Yola. The summit, organized by the African Mineral Rating and Exchange (AME), focused on bridging the development gap in the agriculture and solid mineral value chains through grassroots productivity enhancement and business-to-business alliances.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Honda emphasized that raw materials are the backbone of any industrialized economy. He highlighted that developing Adamawa’s mineral resources is crucial for the state’s economic advancement, as it can create jobs, stimulate entrepreneurship, and generate substantial revenue. He called on stakeholders to collaborate with RMRDC to promote the development and utilization of these resources to bridge the state’s development gap.
Earlier, the Governor of Adamawa State Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by the Commissioner for Commerce, Trade, and Industry, Hon. Ishaya John Dabari, described the summit as timely, noting that Adamawa State possesses abundant untapped mineral resources ready for harnessing. He encouraged participants to devise strategies to achieve the desired objectives of the Summit.

The Summit brought together a diverse array of dignitaries and representatives from various ministries and organizations, including the Ministry of Solid Minerals, Ministry of Agriculture, Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Ministry of Commerce, Trade & Industry, Ministry of Entrepreneurship Development, Federal Ministry of Mines, as well as mining associations and marketers. Their collective participation underscored a shared commitment to unlocking the potential of Adamawa’s mineral wealth for the benefit of its citizens.
