The Ogun State Government is set to further consolidate its industrial development drive as the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) intensifies stakeholder engagement ahead of the Africa Raw Materials Summit 2026.
This follows an advocacy visit to the Government House, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, by the Ogun State Coordinator of RMRDC, Mr. Rabiu B. O., and his team. They were received on behalf of the Governor by the Chief of Staff, Dr. Toyin Taiwo Emmanuel.
During the visit, the team formally presented an invitation to the Executive Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
Mr. Rabiu noted that the summit, themed “From African Feedstock to African Factory,” is scheduled to hold from June 22 to 24, 2026, at the Abuja Continental Hotel. He explained that the event is designed to reposition Africa from raw material dependency towards industrial production through value addition.
“This summit presents a credible platform to deepen value chain development and attract investment into critical sectors of our economy. It offers a structured avenue for policy dialogue, industrial collaboration, and investment facilitation across the continent,” he stated.
He added that Ogun State stands to gain significant visibility by leveraging the summit to showcase its agro-industrial base, solid mineral resources, and expanding manufacturing ecosystem to global investors and development partners.
According to him, the event is expected to convene over 1,000 participants, including government leaders, private sector investors, development agencies, and industry experts from across Africa.
Mr. Rabiu further emphasised that participation through Strategic or Platinum partnerships would position Ogun State for high-level engagement opportunities, including a keynote address slot for the Governor and a premium exhibition platform to promote investment-ready projects.
In his response, the Chief of Staff, Dr. Emmanuel, acknowledged the strategic relevance of the summit, noting its alignment with circular economy principles, industrial expansion, and the state government’s priorities for sustainable job creation.
He assured that the invitation would receive due consideration at the highest level and expressed optimism about the state’s possible participation following consultations with the Governor, whom he described as committed to Ogun State’s economic growth.
The engagement reinforces RMRDC’s mandate of promoting raw material development, strengthening industrial linkages, and driving value addition through effective collaboration between federal and sub-national governments.
