The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso, has reiterated the Council’s commitment to advancing the economic growth policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The DG made this known while receiving a delegation from the Asiwaju Connect Group who paid him a courtesy visit on Tuasday, at the RMRDC Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.
Speaking during the visit, the DG commended President Tinubu’s policy direction, noting that the administration’s programmes are yielding positive outcomes for Nigeria and its citizens. He acknowledged the President’s role in shaping opportunities within the public sector. He noted that he is a beneficiary of the present President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, of which he is grateful.

“I remain committed to promoting and appreciating the good works of Mr. President through the mandate of the Council,” he said.
Highlighting one of the Council’s key initiatives, Prof. Ike-Muonso pointed out that the proposed RMRDC Raw Materials 30 per cent Value Addition Bill was designed to align with the Federal Government’s “Nigeria First” policy. According to him, the Bill seeks to ensure that no raw material is exported from Nigeria without undergoing at least 30 per cent local value addition.
He explained that the policy, when implemented, would significantly enhance the global competitiveness of Nigerian products, boost the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and generate employment opportunities. He added that the initiative is strategically aimed at moving Nigeria away from a commodity-dependent economy to a value-chain-driven industrial hub.

Earlier, the leader of the visiting team, the National Corordinator of the progressive group, Hon. Sunday Momoh said the visit was to honour the RMRDC Director-General for his contributions to the national development plan of the Federal Government. He also announced the conferment of the title of Patron of the Asiwaju Connect Group on Prof. Ike-Muonso.
Hon. Momoh described the RMRDC DG as a distinguished academic and administrator whose efforts continue to support the realisation of the Federal Government’s economic vision. He noted that the Group remains committed to the progressive ideals of President Tinubu and his vision of positioning Nigeria prominently within the global community.
Responding, Prof. Nnanyelugo appreciated the group for the honour conferred on him as Patron of the national progressive group. He emphasised the significance of collaboration between government institutions and support groups in driving sustainable economic development in the country, adding that. the RMRDC is committed to driving this course, both in the States and in the Federal.
