The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has formally received the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) certification, marking a major milestone in the Council’s commitment to structured processes, continuous improvement and global best practices.
The certificate was officially presented during a brief ceremony held at the Council’s headquarters. Members of the RMRDC Management Team and representatives of the ISO audit team were present.
From the ISO team, present at the ceremony were Mr. Hafiz Salisu the ISO team lead, Mr. Amos Ologboshere, Miss Deborah E. Ukpong and Mr. Frank Ennetome, were joined the Council’s internal ISO management team for the official presentation of the ISO 9001 certificate to RMRDC to the Director General/CEO of the Council, Professor Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso.

Making the formal presentation, Mr. Hafiz expressed appreciation to the Council for the opportunity to support RMRDC through its certification journey. He commended the Council’s dedication and teamwork, describing the process as an exemplary journey that demonstrated the organization’s commitment to quality. He said that, “The commitment shown by the Council to ensure that it complied with all the requirements for being certified is commendable. More striking is the fact that the Council was able to achieve its certification in less than one and a half years.”
He further noted that achieving ISO 9001 certification at this stage was significant, especially as many agencies often find it difficult to meet the requirements within a short time frame. According to him, the certification represents RMRDC’s drive towards structured processes and continuous improvement. He encouraged the D.G./CEO and the staff of the Council to keep the standards the organization has attained at a constant high level so it can be awarded its audit evaluation next year and its recertification in 2028.
In his remarks, the Director-General of RMRDC, Professor Nnanyelugo M. Ike -Muonso, appreciated the ISO team for their support and recognised the collective effort of Council’s staff who had worked closely with the auditors. He emphasized that the certification should serve as a foundation for further progress. According to him, “The achievement demonstrates that the Council is on the right path and will continue to build on this success as it pursues higher levels of organizational excellence.”
With this certification, RMRDC joins the ranks of agencies committed to maintaining world class standards in their operations, reinforcing its vision of driving Nigeria’s industrialization through research, innovation and effective raw materials development.
The RMRDC Training Center has also received a certificate from SGS Switzerland, showing that it now meets international standards for training. The Centre, which was first set up with support from UNIDO, has worked over the years to meet all the required conditions for proper training and good learning facilities. With this new certification, the Council can now issue training certificates that are accepted anywhere in the world, helping the Centre deliver quality programmes and support the skills needed for Nigeria’s industrial growth.
Members of the senior management team present include, the Overseeing Director, Planning, Statistics and Policy Department, Mrs. Tariere Giwa-Osagie, the Deputy Director of the Policy Planning and Statistics Division, Dr. CY Hamilton Chinweyin and Deputy Director of the Engineering Design and Development Division (EDDD) Engr. Aduaagba, the representative of the Head of the Raw Materials Training School, Dr. Ify Olife and a coordinator of the ISO implementation team.
