The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) showcased its remarkable talents and team spirit at the 2024 Federal Public Service Games (FEPSGA) in Port Harcourt River State, earning widespread praise and recognition.

The 43rd edition of the annual event, which brought together government ministries, departments, and agencies to foster unity and healthy competition, was held at four different locations in the state: Shark Stadium, University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt Club, and Alfred Diete-Spiff Civic Center.

RMRDC’s delegation, comprising different games, delivered exceptional performances across various sporting disciplines, including lawn tennis, squash, volleyball, Basketball, Scrabble, and Ayo. The council’s lawn tennis team emerged as one of the tournament’s highlights, advancing with impressive victories.

In Scrabble, RMRDC clinched several medals; gold and bronze, in both female double and female single, with standout performances that earned a silver in the Ayoo Mixed double games.

The lawn tennis team also shone brightly, both the Single Female and Female Double, won Gold in each category.

The basketball game also saw the men smashing in 3rd place with a bronze medal. The team also won gold medal in the Men Chess single, and silver in the squash female double, respectively.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Director-General of RMRDC, Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike- Muonso who was represented by the Deputy Director, Rivers State Coordinating Office, Mrs. G.O. Agbaim expressed pride in the RMRDC Contingents’ achievements. She said this year’s FEPSGA has shown that RMRDC is not only a leader in research and development but also in teamwork, determination, and community engagement.

She extended commendable hospitality to all the RMRDC contingents as a way to support and boost their morale, while also applauding the state government for fully equipping the sporting facilities in the state to meet international standards.

The 2024 edition of FEPSGA witnessed increased participation, with over 60 public service organizations competing in sporting activities, including people with disabilities. The event also served as a platform to promote health, fitness, and camaraderie among civil servants nationwide.

One of RMRDC’s best players and a many-time medalist in lawn tennis, volleyball, and squash, Miss. Ebere Okoro is geared up for the games with a sure win.

Ministries and agencies such as the Head of Service of the Federation , Federal Inland Revenue, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Education, NASANI, Department of Petroleum Resources. Ministry of Agriculture, NSITF, NAPTIN, Aviation, NEMA, FAAN, OSFG, Ministry of Defense, FCMB, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry, ICPC, Police Affairs, Ministry of Science, Innovation and Technology and many others participated in the event.

RMRDC’s stellar performance at FEPSGA 2024 underscores its commitment to excellence, both in and out of the workplace, setting a standard for others to follow.
