The Taraba State Coordinating Office of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Jalingo, has commenced a strategic stakeholders’ engagement campaign ahead of the forthcoming African Raw Materials Summit 2026, scheduled to hold from June 22 to 24, 2026, at the Abuja Continental Hotel.
As part of the sensitisation and mobilisation drive, the Taraba State office, on May 4, 2026, visited critical stakeholders across the state to encourage participation in the summit, themed “From African Feedstock to African Factory.”
Institutions visited during the exercise included the Taraba State Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry; Bank of Agriculture, Jalingo Branch; the Ministry of Science and Technology, Jalingo; and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, among others.

Leading the delegation, the Taraba State Coordinator of RMRDC, Mr Musa W.A., paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, where the team was received by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Isa Mohammed Hamza, on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner.
During the visit, the State Coordinator formally presented an invitation to the ministry and highlighted the summit’s significance in advancing Africa’s industrialisation agenda through value addition, local manufacturing, and sustainable economic development.
He explained that the summit would provide Taraba State with opportunities to participate in high-level policy dialogues, panel discussions, and strategic engagements focused on value addition, logistics optimisation, circular economy practices, industrial partnerships, and enabling policy frameworks.

According to him, the summit will also create a platform for the state to interface with global investors, development partners, and industry leaders with a view to attracting investments into Taraba’s raw materials value chains.
Mr. Musa further noted that participation in the summit would enable the state to showcase its vast agro-based raw material potential, including cocoa, coffee, tea, oil palm, and rubber, while also exposing stakeholders to emerging global trends, innovations, and technologies in raw materials development and industrial processing.
Responding, Dr. Isa Mohammed Hamza expressed appreciation to the RMRDC delegation for the visit and the invitation extended to the ministry. He assured the team that the invitation would be communicated to the Honourable Commissioner and reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting active participation in the summit.
The team continued through visits to all other stakeholders, noting the significant importance of the summit and the need for collaborative efforts towards raw materials development and industrial growth in the state. The places visited expressed readiness to participate in the summit.
