The Federal Government has commended the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) for its bold initiative in establishing a Nigeria Raw Materials Information Management System (NRMIMS) for Nigeria, describing the system as a critical and necessary factor to Nigeria’s journey to economic and industrial transformation.

The Honorable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji gave the commendation at the official launch of the RMIMS and Raw Materials E-Registration Portal in Abuja on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. The Hon. Minister described the NRMIMS and RM E-Reg Portal as a groundbreaking initiative for Nigeria’s economic and industrial development. He noted that the System will enhance the country’s global competitiveness in raw materials data management. Chief Uche Nnaji emphasized that the implementation and utilisation of the portals will transform Nigeria into a data-driven economy that can fuel the economic and industrial agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
In a similar development, the Hon Minister of State for Industry, Sen. John Owan Enoh praised
RMRDC for achieving a significant milestone in driving Nigeria’s industrial transformation through the launch of a robust, user-friendly and innovative RMIMS and Raw Materials E-Reg Portal that is capable of revolutionizing Nigeria’s economic and industrial landscape. He stated that the NRMIMS and RM E-Reg Portal when fully implemented, has the capacity to reduce unemployment, create new jobs and save the country the huge foreign exchange expended on imported products.
In his welcome address, the Director General and Chief Executive of RMRDC, Prof. Nnanyelugo M. Ike-Muonso informed participants that the NRMIMS and RM E-Reg Portal are part of the Council’s efforts aimed at ensuring optimal utilisation of the country’s abundant raw materials resources for economic growth and industrial development. He called on stakeholders, investors, manufacturers and policy makers to take advantage of the rich repository of the portals which offers valuable information on all the local raw materials available across the country.
